This is strictly a get-me-through-this-test snack. My own kids may need a snack while studying or I may take these to my students or both.

My friend gave me these new measuring cups that I love and I couldn’t wait to make something so I thought my version of Muddy Buddies might come in handy this week.

It only takes a few ingredients.

Melt the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter together in the microwave.

Stir to be sure it is all melted and mixed together. Add the vanilla. Stir.

Measure out the cereal into a large bowl.

Add peanuts.

Pour chocolate over the cereal. Coat all of the pieces with the mixture.

Cover each piece with powdered sugar.

I am storing it in the freezer in a large baggie so I can bring it out when it matters most.

That’s it.

I like that it has cereal, peanuts, and peanut butter.  I guess I’m trying to say that it could be worse.

I’ll add some miniature marshmallows if I need to make it stretch a bit.

This is not something I will eat unless I’m sneaking a piece or two off of someone else’s plate but hopefully it will help finals week pass a little easier for someone.

Here’s the recipe for My Muddy Buddies:

9 cups of Chex cereal (I used rice)

1 cup of peanuts

1 cup of chocolate chips

1/2 cup of peanut butter

1/4 cup of butter

1 t of vanilla

2+ cups of powdered sugar

Miniature marshmallows to stretch it

Melt the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter together. Add vanilla.  Cover the cereal and peanuts with the melted mixture. Stir. Coat with the powdered sugar.  Store in plastic baggies. Add marshmallows just before serving, if needed.

I hope you have a great day!
