What does it take for you to know that God will answer the prayer that has been on your heart for days or weeks or years? Do you know what I mean? The prayer that drives you to your knees…the prayer that keeps you up at night…the prayer that is in your every breath. Will God show himself faithful? Will God show himself faithful to me?
I know God is faithful. Will he show himself faithful to me?
After the Lord sent fire from heaven and burned up the altars of Baal, Elijah told Ahab that he should go eat and drink because there is the sound of heavy rain. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky. In fact, it hadn’t rained in three years. So Ahab went off to eat and drink, but Elijah went to the top of Mount Carmel, knelt down to the ground with his face between his knees. He sent his servant to look towards the sea. Elijah stayed humbled on the ground with his forehead in the dirt. The servant came back and said that there was nothing there. There was nothing there. Elijah said, “Go back.” Elijah sent him again and again and again. Each time the servant returned with nothing to report, until the seventh time. On the seventh time, the servant said, “I saw a cloud the size of a man’s fist that was coming in from the sea.” That’s all Elijah needed. He told his servant to tell Ahab to get his chariot ready and go home now before the rains stop you. “Meanwhile, the sky grew black with clouds, the wind rose, a heavy rain started falling and Ahab rode off to Jezreel.” ~I Kings 18
Have you seen a fist-sized cloud? A small cloud can offer great hope.
Don’t miss the small, fist-sized cloud.
I have seen a cloud, a small cloud about the size of a man’s fist. I praise God for the small cloud.
Our God will show himself faithful to me and to you.
