Blogging in Secret April 9, 2009

i-love-blogging1I have begun blogging in secret. My husband gets his feelings hurts when I’m on the computer and not engaged with what is going on around me! I guess he has a point, but it’s really hard to blog when he’s not around. He’s always around! We have pretty much the same schedule, so I’m trying to get creative.

I thought I had the perfect solution. I couldn’t sleep one night, so I got up and began a blog post. I was in the den…but I heard from deep in our room “Come back to bed!” It was 3:00 AM. He had been sound asleep.

It’s as if he can smell my writing. I’ve gotten jumpy when I am blogging, like I’m doing something I’m not suppose to be doing. But I love writing. I love reflecting on my days and trying to craft a story.

I’m pretty good at hiding some things…like chocolate and receipts….(hiding is a strong word…more like discreet storage) maybe I’ll get better at hiding my blogging.

Have you ever hidden anything from your husband? Not that I am promoting keeping secrets from your spouse, but…have you? Do you?

There is a 31 day better blog challenge on the web.  I have been interested in it, but haven’t launched into the sequential 31 day steps. However, one of the days’ challenges is to survey the readers and get feedback for making your blog better.  So….here goes.  I would appreciate any thoughts or ideas you have about how to improve this blog.  Getting a sense of how you see this blog will help me to improve this site.

Thanks so much!

These are some questions I have:

  • What is In His Image about to you?
  • What’s the first topic that pops into your head?
  • What would you like to see more of?  Less of?
  • Any suggestions?

Thanks for any feedback!

In Will Richardson’s book, Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts, and Other Powerful Web Tools for Classrooms, he says, ” it is blogs that have opened up the Read/Write frontier for content creation to the web.” He also states that the powerful instructional uses of this tool are being at best ignored and at worst not even being considered. This book makes a compelling case for Web tools in the classroom and beyond. Students are using the tools for social interactivity, teachers need to show them how to use them for academic purposes.

The first step for teachers and blogging will be to just begin! Get started! Do it! Join me and take the first step.
