Golden Bowls December 26, 2009

Where do prayers go?  Do they just float upwards?  Does God hear them and then move on?

Revelation 5:8 says, “And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.”

Golden bowls….my prayers, our prayers are incense in golden bowls.

Prayers are precious.  Prayers for those who are hurting.  Prayers for the lost.  Prayers for wisdom and strength.  Our prayers are in golden bowls.

Thank you, Father.

Timer went to a new home yesterday. It is so easy to accumulate too many horses.  In an effort to keep our herd manageable, Timer will be a little girl’s present this year.

I know that he will be well cared for and loved, but it’s still hard to see him go.

It’s time for him to take care of another little girl who loves horses.  He will be an awesome Christmas present!

Meredith has outgrown him and he is too good of a horse to leave in the pasture while she rides more challenging horses.

He was my “go-to” horse as I  began to do equine-assisted learning and therapy.  He was always ready and willing to work with people.  He enjoyed the interaction with people.

Thanks, Timer!  I will miss you!

Last Minute Shopping December 23, 2009

There are others like me. I heard on the Today Show that there are a substantial number of people who wait till the last week to shop for Christmas presents.

Here are my Top Ten Reasons why I don’t shop for Christmas presents early…

10. My children grow at unpredictable rates. What I buy in May will not fit in December.
9. I would miss the exercise. This way there is never a parking spot close to the door.
8. I would return Nike, and buy Adidas.
7. The less time between buying and giving, the less time I have to worry about whether or not they will like what I got them.
6. My children’s Christmas list is apt to change.
5. The longer you wait to buy electronic gadgets, the better and cheaper they are.
4. I shop better under pressure.
3. There are too many choices early on. If I wait, there are fewer decisions for me to make.
2. I will forget what I bought and where I put it. I’ll find it in April, just in time for Easter.
1. I’m living one day at a time. Each day has enough trouble of it’s own…

Merry Christmas!

Shoes Matter December 16, 2009

Today I wore the shoes that feel really good.

I splurged at a school auction (for the good of the school) and bought a pair of those Australian boots.  Uggs.

I love them.  I can’t wait to get home every day and put them on.  I wear them constantly.  They are warm and soft.  They welcome my feet.

I finally wore them to work….today.

Meredith, my 12-year-old cowgirl, said,”You’re wearing those with your slacks?”

Don’t look.  They are not pretty, but I don’t mind walking anywhere in them!  I am avoiding anyone who is a superior today….I’m not positive, but I don’t think Uggs are the mark of a professional.

I may just stop on the way home and get groceries….because I can. I’m not rushing home to change shoes.  I would rather have PBJ for supper than stop at a store when my feet hurt.  Supper may be glorious tonight!

I know there is style in them somewhere.  But to me, they look like house shoes and I’m too old and dumpy to stuff skinny jeans into the tops and waltz around the school yard.  But I love them anyway.

Tomorrow I will have to go back to some heels, but for today – my feet are happy.

Is there something you love to wear?  Something that makes you happy just to slip into it?
